Tired of the always advertised big five well here I bring you the small five. The little five, also known as the small five and my all time personal favorite nickname, ‘the tiny five’. These tiny animals are the less noticed well because you know the big five and all… who will notice a tiny ant eater when comparing it with an elephant? Still enigmatic- these little guys are found in Africa in the savanna.

Guess what? Both the big five and the small five are native to Africa! Want to know something exciting about these tiny ones? Coincidentally they share their names with their larger friends the big five. The elephant shrew, the leopard turtle, the rhinoceros beetle, the ant lion and the buffalo weaver. Do this names sound familiar? Can you guess who’s who?

Cool right? It’s so weird that some of these little guys look nothing like their counterparts. Well except the elephant shrew and the rhinoceros beetle. Well, I felt like they had been neglected and decided to remind everyone about them today. Next time you drive through a park watch out for the speed limits you might just accidentally trample a leopard tortoise.
